With over 20,000 inhabitants and six residential neighbourhoods (Mozart, Le Mail, Louvois, le Clos, Vélizy le Bas, la Pointe Ouest), the town of Vélizy-Villacoublay is in a prime location. The town's residential areas, business park and shopping centres, all on edge of the Meudon national forest and just 11 kilometres from Paris, combine to give it a sense of balance which is unique in the Greater Paris region. A place for fulfilment… Providing the inhabitants of Vélizy with a pleasant, fulfilling environment and quality of life is the common goal which unites a wide range of aims and initiatives: encouraging children's development through a Local Educational Project*, helping teenagers to flourish, providing a range of different activities and home services for senior citizens, offering high quality cultural programming – focused on the Onde cultural centre – as well as maintaining the sports, cultural and leisure facilities for some 80 associations totalling 10,000 members, and more besides. A number of major property development projects will be undertaken in the coming years: new projects like these play an essential part in preserving and improving the town's living environment and in developing economic competitiveness.

An effective, diversified transport network

Our bus network is undergoing change, with alterations being made in partnership with Phébus-Transport in order to provide even higher quality service and better serve the needs of local residents. Due to open in 2012, the forthcoming Viroflay/Vélizy-Villacoublay/Châtillon tramline is one of the town's major projects and represents a firm commitment to the future. With a capacity of over 4,000 passengers an hour, this new means of transport constitutes a decisive resource for the town's development.

An acclaimed business park

With 43,000 jobs in a thousand or so companies, some of the biggest names in industry and services are represented here: EADS, Messier- Bugatti, Alcatel-Lucent, Inéo, Thalès, Bouygues Telecom and PSA Peugeot Citroën, along with a recent arrival, Dassault Systèmes. The Vélizy 2 regional shopping centre, with over 20 million visitors a year, also contributes to its renown. With one of the lowest professional tax rates in France (7.19%) and an advantageous geographical location, the business park attracts both head offices and property investors.
